Russian drama theatre is one of
the oldest theatrical collectives of Ukraine, the first Russian theatre
which has arisen in republic after October Revolution if 1917.
The theatre collective has been made in 1922 in Lugansk by the Russian actor
and director G.Svobodin. 12 years the troupe had the status of mobile theatre
under the name "Donbass miner". Soon the collective had got the right to
write in the posters - Art theatre of Ukraine. In 1934-1935 the theatre
becomes stationary and got the base in Nikolaev. In 1939 the theatre was
named after a pilot V.P.Tchkalov.
On a stage of theatre such persons of theatrical culture as Maria Savina,
M.Ralsky, Vsevolod Meyerhol'd, Leonid Sobinov, Mark Kropivnitsky, Maria
Sadovskaya, Maria Zankovetskaya, Fyodor Shalyapin have performed.

The Nikolaev zoo is located in Nikolaev. It
is the first among zoos of Ukraine in 1993 has been accepted in the European
Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA). The zoo takes part in 18 European
programs of cultivation of rare kinds (???), enters into the Eurasian Regional
Association of Zoos and Aquariums (ERAZA), in the International System of
the Account of Animals (ISIS). In May, 2003 the Nikolaev zoo have been accepted
in the World association of zoos and aquariums (WAZA).
On April, 26, 1901 a city head Nikolay Pavlovich Leontovich has based the
private collection which was placed in his house. Collection of Leontovich
was well-known in Russia and Europe. The aquarium had electric compressors
and heaters. Fishes have been placed in 75 aquariums. In 1918 collection
of Leontovich has been nationalized, and he has been appointed as the director
of the State aquarium.
In 1925 attached to the Aquarium the zoological department was opened, and
it began to be called the Aquarium - zoo. From Askania-Nova were bisons,
camels, yaks, deers, moufflons, ostriches are brought in the Zoo. Especially
for the zoo bears, wolves, foxes, monkeys have been got. The territory has
been increased up to 0,75 hectares. Open-air cages for hoofed and a cage
for predators were constructed, the park was lay out.
Now the collection has totals 377 kinds, 2800 individuals. About 80 kinds
are entered in the International Red book. It is the largest collection
in Ukraine. More than 50 kinds of animals among the Ukrainian zoos are presented
only here. In 1978 the sculpture has been placed near the Zoo Mowgli and
Bagheera, becoming an emblem of the Zoo. The author is Inna Yuryevna Makushina.
On January, 13, 2001 the flag of the Zoo - the first flag among zoos of
the CIS has been lifted. |
